The State of Clutter
The Hidden Cost of Convenience
Introduction
In 2025, an artist named Song Dong photographed over 10,000 items that his late mother refused to get rid of, and it made us wonder: what would happen if you never threw anything out? If every physical item that ever crossed your path ended up in your home?
It’s almost comical. Your room would be stuffed with clothes, tags, gift bags, McDonald’s toys from the 90s (hey, those might be worth something one day!), your bathroom would overflow with every singe loofah, sponge, and hair product you ever got.
Every single box of crayons, piece of paper you scribbled on, broken umbrella, shoe, and book would pile up and up. Eventually, it would probably overflow.
