My scans have been completed. Now what?

Seeing most of the accounts, mailing lists, and subscriptions you’ve accumulated for many years might be overwhelming to say the least.

We feel you, and we are here to help. 

So how can you organize and clean up your digital footprint without wasting years on that? We got you.

Here’s our recommended approach to managing your online accounts once and for all.

Pruning is the name of the game 

Before your Accounts section starts to fill up, look over your scan results. We cast a wide net, aiming to capture as much as possible, but this approach might sometimes snag a few duplicates or inactive accounts. 

Not in the mood to do it right now?  Click “Add Results” to add every potential account to your Accounts section. Once you've imported your scan results, you can always remove or edit any inaccurate information by navigating between the tabs in the Accounts section.

 

Continue with unsubscribing from mailing lists

Let’s move on to mailing lists. To save you time and energy, we’ve developed Smart Suggestions showing mailing lists whose emails you rarely open. Just head to the homepage and unsubscribe from the emails you don’t really read.

Want even less junk in your mailbox? Head over to the Mailing Lists tab under the Accounts section. There, you'll find a list of all the newsletters you've signed up for over the years. 

You can easily filter them by how often they're sent, how often you open them, when you received the last one, or by category. With over 45% of e-mail traffic being SPAM and 85% of Americans reporting feeling stress and fatigue from email specifically, unsubscribing from unnecessary stuff can help to stay a bit happier in this crazy world.

 

Address data breaches

Yorba is always on the lookout for any data breaches that could put your online accounts or personal information at risk.

We use Have I been pwned service to pull up a list of compromised accounts and their associated metadata. Curious to learn more about data breaches? We have insights on protecting your private data and why it matters.

To see if your accounts have taken a hit, head over to the Breaches tab. Still using any of those accounts? Change your passwords right away to keep these accounts safer.

And if you no longer need accounts that were breached, just click to delete them. Also, if any of your unaffected accounts share passwords with compromised ones, make sure to change those passwords too.  After you've addressed these issues, don't forget to mark them as resolved in Yorba. 

If any breaches occur in the future, Yorba will keep monitoring, and you’ll get notified as soon as possible. 

 

Review Fees and Subscriptions

Want to check for unexpected fees or subscriptions you might pay? It might be a good idea, considering that 9 out of 10 Americans underestimate what they spend on monthly subscriptions. After you link your bank accounts, Yorba will scan your payment history and show recurring payments that look like account fees. 

We will never ask you to share or connect credit cards or bank accounts with us directly. Instead, we use Plaid to mediate a connection to your bank(s) securely.

Once your results are in, look for unrecognized charges or duplicate subscriptions and dismiss them from the scan results list. You can also remove them from the Accounts section after your paid accounts were imported.

Then, if you spot subscriptions you no longer want, head over to the service provider’s website or use Yorba to close those accounts.

We know looking at a list of your online accounts can feel like a lot, so we recommend starting small. 

By default, every Yorba account is set for a modest monthly goal of completing 5 tasks (like unsubscribing from newsletters or deleting old accounts). Why not start there? Before you know it, you'll see your digital footprint getting tidier, and your inbox will finally feel under control again.
